Environment/Geography
The 02905 zip code is an urban area located in Providence, RI. This area, while very much urban has some lovely scenery though. To the leftmost side the area encompasses the Roger Williams Park and Zoo and to the farthest right side it not only has the waterfront view of the harbor it has the Washington Park area, which is less densely populated. The area also includes a neighborhood park, Columbia Park and Playground, with basketball court and a playground area, completely surrounded by trees. The park has wide open spaces and plenty of area for children to play. There is one college in the area, E.W. Flynn Annex, as well as parts of the Johnson and Wales College. There are three high schools, one middle school, and nine elementary schools in the area.

Family Life: The total population of the area is 25,509 people, the area is very diverse in demographics. In a predominantly white area 02905 is a very diverse area with 53% white population, 18.5% black/African American population, 26.5% Hispanic/Latino, 3.3% Asian, 1.4% American Indian/Alaska Native, 0.1% Pacific Islander, and 16.6% of the population is of a different race. In addition to being very diverse the population is also very new to America, aka new immigrants. With 25.1% of the population is foreign born, as opposed to the the nation wide statistic of 11.1% of people being new immigrants. There is also a relatively large population of people speaking English as a second language at home in this area, 38.5% as compared to the nation wide statistic of 17.9% of people speaking English as their second language. A large portion of the population is single as well, this includes divorced. Almost half of he population has never been married and including the divorce percentage of the population the single population makes up more that half of the population, 41.8% of the population has never been married and 10.1% are divorced. The married population only accounts for 38.2% of the population. These statistics are not as common place when one takes into consideration their high median family income, $52781 compared to the national average of $50046, as well as their high median household income, $42090 as opposed to the national average of $41994. This is odd as the % of single parent families is double the national average, 44% of the population were single parents as opposed to 22%. This leads to the conclusion that while there is a high rate of single parent families the families are making more that the average household, indicating a middle class society/ neighborhood.
